Kamuzu 1 Dam Rehabilitation
This project entailed the raising, rehabilitation, and upgrade of the existing Kamuzu I dam for the water supply of Lilongwe (Malawi). The main section will be raised by 5 meters and the existing spillway will host a new pumping house and will be raised an additional 2m using a rubber dam. The reservoir storage will be increased by five times from the original capacity: from 5 Mm3 to 25 Mm3.
H.E. Jackson Engineering Ltd (HEJ) was the main electro-mechanical contractor for this project responsible for the design and installation of the following:
- 1000mm diameter pipework and valve installation through the non-overflow section
- the stop log and trash rack through the non-overflow section
- pumps and pipework in the pumphouse
- electrical and generator
- network of stainless-steel pipework connecting the blowers to the rubber dam.
Likhubula Water Supply Scheme under Blantyre Water Board
Complete Installation of Electromechanical equipment for the 20MLD Water Treatment Plant at Nguludi. The project is EXIM Bank of India funded $ 23.5 million Water Supply Project, which brings water from Mulanje mountains to Blantyre city. The main features of the project are an Intake at Mulanje, 43 km of Gravity pipeline, 20MLD treatment plant, 11 km of transmission main and a 5000cum storage tank at Mpingwe. Major works performed by H.E. JACKSON ENGINEERING LTD are listed below:
1. Installation and alignment of 3 X 750Kw high lift pump set with motor.
2. Installation of 3 X back wash pump set with motors
3. Installation of 11 KV HT panel
4. Installation of LT panel with motor control centres
5. Installation of 2 X 1250KVA Transformers
6. Installation of 1 X 1250 KVA Generator
7. Installation one 8T and one 2T electrically operated overhead gantry cranes
8. Installation of 2 X blowers to assist with backwash
9. Installation of all interconnecting pipelines, valves and gates
10. HT & LT cabling, glanding and termination, earthing and lightning arrestor
11. Installation of fire alarm system
12. Commissioning and test run of the entire system

Chitipa Water Supply under NRWB (In JV with Plem Construction)
The Scope of the works included the construction of an intake weir, pump station, installation of 53KW pumps and associated pipelines. The pipe line consisted of MS, DI and uPVC pipes from 90mm to 350mm. It also included the construction of RCC reservoirs and an administration building. The project was executed in a Joint Venture with Plem Construction Ltd and the major works executed by HEJ are given below.
1. Rehabilitation of existing pumphouse
2. Supply and Installation of new 53KW pumps with motors
3. Supply and Installation of LT panel with motor control centres.
4. Supply and Installation of air blowers for backwash
5. Supply and Installation backwash pumps
6. Supply and Installation of all interconnecting pipelines, valves, gates etc.
7. Supply and Installation of power and control cabling and earthing
8. Supply and Installation of instrumentation system for treatment plant
9. Testing, commissioning and trial run of the treatment plant
